ISO 39001 FAQ
Does AEC issue the ISO 39001 certificate?
No. Certificates are issued by independent certification bodies accredited by a national accreditation body. AEC prepares your organisation for that audit.
Do we need our own fleet to use ISO 39001?
No. Any organisation that generates road traffic or contracts transport can use it, including through its contractors.
Is ISO 39001 being revised?
A revision has started at ISO. ISO 39001:2012, with its 2024 climate amendment, remains the current edition.
How does it relate to ISO 45001?
ISO 45001 covers occupational health and safety broadly. ISO 39001 goes deeper on road risk, including risk to the public. Many fleets run both.
